OFF SHOULDER MERMAID

When I sighted this gorgeous dress on supermodel Liris at curvy con, I thought it was gorgeous until i sighted in store and I fell in love with the fit. The print is absolutely striking and the fabric is very flattering for my curvy frame. I definitely felt like an African princess wearing it.
To accessorize, I did not feel the need to do much so I left my neck bare, grabbed my favorite pair of hoops and framed my wrists with some statement bracelets.

Midweek Blues

Before you crucify me, no this is not a co-ord set.
So anyone who was not blessed with the flat tummy gene or anyone who can’t seem to get rid of their tummy roll i.e myself, will tell you that the search for the perfect high waisted pant/jeans is no easy feat. It is such a special occasion, that when I happened to run across this particular pair by Modamix at Curvy Con, I did not bother trying it on and only uttered the magical words “I’ll take it”. To say I tried it on with trepidation is putting it mildly actually, but thank heavens i was not disappointed.
As I was hanging this pant up in my closet, I caught a glimpse of this sleeveless duster that I purchased earlier in the Spring from Fashion to Figure and viola! I couldn’t resist wearing them together. I paired them with a faux leather plunge bodysuit from Boohoo for a bit of an edgy look and my wide fabric choker to accessorize. This gorgeous Fashion to Figure clutch completed the look.

White & Rust

Easy breezy comfort is my motto, and I stayed true to that for my trip to NYC for curvycon. I opted for pieces that I could multitask, for example this duster served me well not only with this dress but also paired with a pair of jeans and a simple tee.

PRIV & HILTON MIDTOWN

Finding a place to stay in the big apple might not be a problem for some, but finding the right place, with the right view, the right access and the right price might be. For myself and the girls this past weekend, we decided on The Hilton Midtown and did not regret that decision. It was gorgeous, comfortable, clean and best of all, affordable.
Plus as a bonus, they provide a service called Priv which is basically a bedside beauty service which you reserve online, that comes to your room and gives a range of services from mani/pedis to massages and even makeup services. I opted to get a massage as my back was hurting from all lugging my luggage around, and it was great! My masseuse was awesome, pleasant and patient.
Unfortunately, Priv is not yet available in the DMV but they are in NYC, London, LA, Hamptons, OC and Austin and whenever I’m in any of these places, I’ll make sure to call them and so should you.

STATEMENT X CURVYCON DAY 2

First things first, CurvyCon was awesome!!! If you missed it this year, try to go next year. It was a beautiful gathering of gorgeous, ambitious women and it was amazing to be among a welcoming, awesome group of women. Nicole of Curves on a Budget posted on her FB page that if you ever need a confidence boost, go to NY and i agree! The love in NY is overflowing lol.
On to my outfit, for CurvyCon, I really wanted something comfortable yet statement. So I went with my trusted full midi skirt (which I own in three colors). This skirt does it for me, from the weight of the fabric to the flattering cut it is just perfect, I have absolutely no complaints. I know I wanted to wear a crop top with this skirt and actually had quite a range of options but I when I saw this cute little “fabric of a top” as my mother called it, I just had to have it. It has a matching skirt but since my  tummy and hips don’t lie, it was not big enough to fit (since it is from a straight line).
I finished off this pairing with a high bun and a wide suede choker and my outfit was complete, comfortable yet statement.

The Wrap Skirt

Hi guys! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks I tell you! Good things first, I got a new job as an ICU nurse which is great for me since I’ll learn incredible things. Bad news is, if you follow me on Instagram here, you might already know that I got into a very serious car accident (not my fault!) that resulted in my car getting totaled. It was pretty bad but my God is alive and He brought me out of it with alive, in pain but alive. So please pardon my absence as of lately, its been hectic around these parts for me!
Now moving on to exciting news, I will be in NYC this weekend for CurvyCon!!! I can’t wait to meet  whoever’s going to be there. If you are, please say hi and let’s snap some pics.

Tie Dye

Guess who’s going to be at Curvy Con!!! As at my last post, it was not going to happen but the tables have turned and I will be at Curvy Con next week with my blogger boos Val, ChiChi and maybe Vivi. Last year was fun company, can’t wait to enjoy it again this year! Let me know if you’re going!
Word for the wise, if you sight an item you like at Fashion to Figure, get it! Cos it seems like lately items have been flying off their shelves and site like no man’s business. I got this off shoulder dress from them just a few weeks ago and already it’s no longer available on their site. Although I’m sure some of you might be able to get it from your local store. It’s worth a try.
I am so glad that my camera was able to pick up the beautiful blues of this dress! I feel in love with the fabric pattern before I even tried on the dress. It is tie dye done right, plus the blues are just gorgeous! I have a feeling it’s going to be one of my Summer staples.

Blushin’ Pink

Lingerie inspired looks are definitely very sexy but I can’t say that I have ever been tempted to wear my satin slip outside of the four walls of my home. But I have been known to admire a lingerie inspired look done right. When I say this blush pink satin shirt dress, i thought it looked like a house robe (which was not a good thing!) but my imagination ran wild at the idea of wearing it open, over a dress or even high waisted jeans and a crop top.
Granted, I originally tried pairing it with a black version of this dress and was wholly disappointed because the black just made it look…not great at all. But pairing it with this white dress just brought out the richness of the pink satin and gives a very polished look.
