Misfit

I’m not usually a t-shirt kinda gal but once in a while, I find one that is just too good to pass on. Like this one I found strolling through the streets of NYC. For as long as I can remember, I have loved my disney princesses. So what else is cooler than a Princess Jasmine tee, Princess Jasmine being a misfit of course! Oh, and spot the Aladdin tattoo on her arm! I am a sucker for details like that!
As fun as this tee is, I dressed it up with a full box pleated skirt and some simple heels and I had a blast with the laughs I had while wearing this tee.

I’m wearing
Tee (street vendor)
Skirt (similar here & here)
Shoes (Up to size 13 here)
Watch (here)
!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e     = doc.createElement(s); e.id  = id; p = ‘//shopsensewidget.shopstyle.com/widget-script.js’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);

CABLE SWEATER + LEATHER MINI

My favorite part of fall has to be the knitwear. I love sweaters (or jumpers), cardigans, lightweight jackets, and the works and since Fall has decided to come early in my side of the globe, I am already reaching to the back of my closet to pick out my sweaters.
Another part of knitwear that I love so much is its ability to stretch. This is very important for me because I love specialty sweaters, no plain ones for me (well, with the exception of this one I’m wearing lol). But since most plus size designs tend to border on the plain side, the stretch serves me well and I can actually pull off straight sizes in most sweaters. Believe me when I say that I definitely take advantage of this fact.
Sweaters are very versatile because they can be paired with pretty much anything and you can achieve whatever look/style you want with them. For a corporate look, wear a button down shirt underneath and pair with some pants, for a casual look pair with a boyfriend jean and some sneakers. I tend to choose the dressy route with my sweaters and i love pairing them with skirts; pencil, mini, skater, you name it. Since faux leather isn’t going anywhere soon, I paired this cable sweater with a simple leather miniskirt.

I’m wearing
Cable knit sweater (similar here and here, grab this for a steal here)
Faux leather miniskirt (sold out, similar herehere and here)
Steve Madden heels (here, similar here)

The Perfect Boyfriend.

Finding the right pair of boyfriend jeans can be quite a hassle, at least for me it is. Mainly because finding the right fit can be very frustrating. Either it’s too tight to be considered “boyfriend” or the fit is just “off”. It is common practice in the plus size world, to go a size up or two in order to achieve the desired loose fit. But there’s a downside to that solution, since that baggy look can make us appear larger than we really are.
I personally like my boyfriend jeans to fit snug at the waist and hip and then loosely around the thighs and calf. I find that in order to achieve this, the denim has to have a bit of stretch.
If shopping around for a boyfriend jean, I would suggest trying it on in store. As a rule, I almost never buy jeans online since I have suffered from enough disappointing experiences to last me a lifetime. So when I find a piece that I like online, I call around until I find a store that has that piece for me to try on. Good news is, these days many stores offer a ship to store option were you can have their products shipped to a store near you. This boyfriend jean that I have on is by Torrid and they have several options available.
The sleeveless coat is becoming a sensation these days and I am feeling this sensation. I am wearing a  size large in this piece which is great as a layer but will not provide much shelter once it actually gets really cold. But try a large in straight sizes for sleeveless coats.
P.S: I got an overwhelming number of people asking about where to purchase the dress from my last post (here). So I decided to start linking the pieces seen on the blog and also finding similar pieces for those interested.
I’m Wearing:

Grey Maxi

Maxi dresses are one of my all time favorite, go to items when I reach into my closet. Usually when you think maxi dresses, you think summer, flowy, easy breezy beautiful, which it can be. But it can also be a great transitional piece into the cooler seasons. For example, this maxi is made from a heavier knit so it’ll be great for fall, especially paired with a leather moto jacket and a bootie or knee high boots for winter.

Fringe Detail.

Since Summer is officially at an end, I’ve been looking for pieces to wear for a night out that won’t leave me shivering in the cool evening weather that we’re having right now. I came across this jumpsuit on one of my jaunts to my local Fashion to Figure. Wasn’t really my style until I eyed this fringe belt on display a couple of hangers away. Fringe is definitely my thing lol.
The belt adds a bit of drama and flair to this jumpsuit but also conceals and enhances at the right places. Another point in its favor, I skipped any shapewear for this look thanks to the belt and that makes it a winner in my opinion.

Denim Layer

I’m so ready for Fall to get here, so I’ve been sporting a lot of lightweight jackets and such. As much as I love Summer, I’m kinda ready for it to be over. Love this denim jacket which I randomly picked up at my local mall.
Not really a fan of the body con dress but I gave it a shot.
