Be Yourself: Basic tee & Double Split Maxi

This double split maxi is one of the pieces I made over the winter. I pretty much used a free hand to cut the fabric. I’ve been wanting a bright red maxi but such specific items are so difficult to find when you’re plus sized. You sometimes unfortunately have to go with whatever is produced by the few plus size stores available. Which is one of the main reasons I learned how to sew. This clutch is also one of my favorites that I’ve made so far. Love the accent flower on it.

Animal Rage: Leopard tee & Print skirt

Hello lovelies! TGIF!!! Well TGIF for some of you who don’t work weekends. I work alternating weekends but I’ll be off on Easter sunday!

So, I ran into this tee at Forever 21 and fell in love. Usually I would pair it with a solid color since it’s quite loud on its own. But with the current trend of matching separates, I decided to give it a try by pairing it with this Fashion to Figure pencil skirt.

I really like how this came out, it was a very chill and comfortable look for running around all day.

Shades of green: Neon blazer & Gold buttons

Hello lovelies! Hope your week has been going great.

So, you know how if there is a part of your body you could change you would, one of mine are my legs. They’re kinda huge, and i wouldn’t mind so much if i didn’t love skirts and dresses so much! But oh well,  what to do? My legs are my legs and they carry all of me around so I love them if just for that lol
This color combination is definitely not for the faint of heart because it is a very bright and attention grabbing pairing. But I was inspired by a recent photo of Solange were she paired different shades of blue for a very striking look. But as with bold colors and prints, pairing it with a nude shoe or sandal is a smart way to go

But looking back at these pictures, maybe I shouldn’t have worn this necklace?

Intricate details: Lace skirt & Beaded top

Happy monday everyone! Ugh! I know, its another weekday. But oh well, I had a blast this weekend.

It was a pretty relaxing weekend. I spent half a day scouting the mall for a birthday gift for one of my besties, had some delicious sushi, spent a day at one of my girlfriend’s beautiful apartment and just chilled pretty much. No responsibilities this weekend, just fun.

So the lace skirt is making its rounds on fashion blogs recently isn’t it? Truth be told, I didn’t go out looking for one but I ran into this skirt at the thrift store some months ago. I loved it on sight but instinctively knew that it would look even better if i tore the lower section of the lining off. My mum thought i was crazy for “ruining” a perfectly good skirt but will you look at that mum, it came out gorgeous right? lol
To keep the delicacy of the lace going, I paired it with a pearl beaded top that I fell in love with at Lane Bryant.
I wore this look for an early dinner with my girls and wanted to look simple but dressed up and i think i pulled it off.

The lace is also laced with sequins which don’t really pop in these pictures but oh well.

When in doubt: Blush shirt & Denim

Happy weekend guys!

The weather here in Maryland has been amazing lately, and I’ve been taking advantage on the days when I’m not at work. So when in doubt, my go to look is usually a flowy shirt and some jeans. Paired with the right accessories, this duo can take you from a casual day to a date night. Nude pumps always work with this look, a structured purse or a clutch would work as well. Top it off with a statement necklace, and you’re good to go.

I pulled my look off with a destroyed denim just for a casual flare just because it was a casual kind of day

Lots of love and kisses!

Cobalt Love: Box top & Midi Skirt

Hello! Hope everyone’s having a great week so far?
So on my previous post, I stated that I was going to show off some of the beautiful pieces that I made this past winter…and this skirt is one of them! I made this from Mimi G’s Infamous Regal Maxi but I made mine a midi as opposed to a maxi. Just because i have found that full maxi skirts are not so flattering on me and it does not hurt that midi skirts are so in right now. Since this skirt has the risk of looking very pageantry, I paired it with this Lane Bryant leather jacket just to toughen it up a bit.

Long lost love: Cropped & Floral

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Oh my gosh! It’s actually been more than a year since I last blogged! Time flies when you’re having fun…I wish, but life has just been busy you know. Graduating from college, studying for the board exams (and passing, thank God!), looking for a job and then getting settled in, plus moving to a new place. Yeah, life has been busy. But, there will be no more disappearing acts I promise.

So, notice something different? Yep, the blog name has been changed. Road to Fashionable, is pretty much going to be a picture story book of my looks. Nothing too fancy, nothing too risqué, just…my road to being fashionable.
This T.J Maxx cropped sweater is actually from the straight line in an XL and I paired it with this floral maxi skirt that I made last summer. I’ll be showcasing more pieces that I made over the next couple of posts, just to showoff my recently acquired sewing skills lol.

While it is great to be back, it is taking a while to reaquaint myself with blogsville again, but I’m looking forward to overdosing on all the blogs i’ve missed.
Have a lovely week and thank you for stopping by!
